Finding Apps
Below you will find some recommended apps for creation, coding, and learning. If you don't find what you are looking for, you can use Graphite to help you. You can search by platform, subject, grade, price, skill, and purpose. The apps are evaluated by experts who provide detailed feedback including the education value and engagement level. You can use it to find an app that meets your child's specific needs and interest. For example does your child enjoy a little competition? Are you looking for straight up skill and drill or would you like some critical thinking?
Creation Apps
Here are some of our favorite "creation" apps. In the digital world, our kids are often "consumers" of content - they watch videos, play games, etc. Here are a set of apps we use at school to enable students to be "creators". They can use these to creatively present their thinking.

Coding
Coding apps are also "creation" apps, but I separated them out. Coding is a great way for kids to learn how to give specific instructions, learn critical thinking and problem solving skills. Below you'll find a variety of apps where kids can learn programming concepts by solving puzzles, creating animations, interactive stories, and games. Learning Apps
Here are some apps and sites that we use with the students to supplement their learning in class. Included are links to grade-level math pages which include carefully curated web activities that support the Math In Focus curriculum. If you are using an iPad, most of the website activities require the use of the Puffin web browser (which supports Flash). Also included are a few math apps that students enjoy using to practice their basic math facts. Please note there are a lot of great math apps out there.
