Today the students will make a nameplate and learn two more 3DC features - adding text and subtracting space. First the students will turn a box into a thin rectangle. Then they will add text and size it to fit the rectangle. They will make the text thicker than the rectangle. When they spin the nameplate around they should see that the text sticks out the front and the back. Then they can subtract the text from the rectangle. When they delete the text, the space that is left is hollow. Here is the nameplate I made as an example. If they were really up for a challenge, they added holes or a torus so a chain could be added. | |
