In this series of puzzles, students continue to develop their understanding of algorithms and debugging. With a new character, Laurel the Adventurer, students created sequential algorithms to get Laurel to pick up treasure as she walks along a path.
I loved watching the students as they worked through today's challenging set of puzzles. They learned the benefits of working on incremental parts of the program and testing it, rather than always trying to write the whole thing at once. I saw a lot of perseverance, problem solving and critical thinking as they debugged their code. I also witnessed some great collaboration. I had to laugh when I saw James holding Payton's pointer finger as he guided her through a particularly difficult piece of code. Students have been told that "helping" does not mean "doing it for the other person". I guess he internalized that idea.
