The fourth grade led the Lower School Gathering this week...
Alex Welcome to the Lower School Gathering. Next week is World Food Day. All the students at ACDS will be learning about hunger and working on projects to help hungry people then. We wanted to introduce this topic by reading you a story.
Zoe
After reading Maddi's Fridge, we wondered how many people in Alexandria and in the United States don't always have enough food in their refrigerators. Xander We did some research and we want to show you the answer. Imagine that the people in this room were all the people in Alexandria. This is how many people don't always know where their next meal is coming from (4th graders stand up). Luka: That is 1 in 5 people in Alexandria who don't always have enough food. That number is the same in the United States. (4th graders sit down). Here is another short video talking about that number.
Max Burnett
The kids in the video started brainstorming ideas for ways they can help. Max Bryan Next week on World Food Day, you will have a chance to think about your ideas for helping hungry people in our community too. We look forward to hearing all your great ideas! Caroline The first graders already have one idea that they would like to share with you. They will come up now to make an announcement. First Graders The first graders shared information on Blessings in a Backpack Kat Thank you first graders, and thank you ACDS Lower School for listening to our message. |
