I've been meeting with 1st grade every other week since Wedn, Oct 17. They've been learning how to use 3DC a 3D design tool. The 3DC app is super simple to use, but not very intuitive.The app was originally designed for a PC, not an iPad. . But once the students learned how to use it, they have been doing some amazing things.
The first class was a Guided Discovery, where I showed the students a few of the features and then let them explore. Each time we meet, I show them more features and give them a challenge. One week it was to design a head. The next time I showed them how to make their head which was made up of multiple objects into a single object and then add a body. I also showed them how they could clone an object - like an arm - so they match. Here are some snapshots of their work-in-progress:
