Today we went over the ACDS Media Agreement. We talked about how an "agreement" describes what you are "agreeing to do" in exchange for using technology at the school and how using the iPads is a privilege. We read each line of the agreement and the students signed a copy.
I teach two classes before students are able to get their iPads. The first is about Staying Safe Online. I started the class by asking the students how they used technology over the summer. Playing Fortnite was by far the most enthusiastic response. Then I read them a book I wrote called Staying Safe Online. The gist of the story is that the rules on staying safe the Internet are the same as the rules in every day life. That's because the Internet is an extension of the world around us. The story goes through different scenarios to make the point.
