Today's activity was another "unplugged" activity. We started with a short lesson on debugging and persistence, Then we moved to the gym where we broke the students up into teams of 4. The activity was similar to Lesson 1, but the students were racing against each other and had to work as a relay team to write the code. We lined the students up behind a line in the gym and placed a drawing on the other end of the room. One student would run to the drawing and write a command. When they returned back to the line, the next student would run to the drawing and determine if the existing code was right. They could either add a new command or fix one. This would continue until the complete "program" was finished. Teamwork is very important in computer science. Teams write and debug code with each other, instead of working as individuals. In this lesson, students learned how to work together while being as efficient as possible. This activity also demonstrated the pressures of writing code under pressure. This was a great activity and the students really enjoyed it. | Vocabulary
