This week we learned about precipitation. We learned how the sun's interactions with the earth cause precipitation. Precipitation is water that falls to the ground as rain, freezing rain, snow, sleet, and hail. It is measured with a rain gauge. We learned about the Water Cycle, answered students questions, and finished the week with a fun round of Kahoot where students were tested on what they learned this week and some fun precipitation trivia.
The water cycle is where precipitation comes from. | Nick and Chloe want to know "Where do snowflakes come from?" |
What can you tell me about precipitation from this chart?
Chloe wants to know "Where does hail comes from?" | Chloe Symone wants to know "What are snow rollers?" |
Ty wants to know "How much snow will we get in Virginia?" Interestingly, that answer depends on where you are in Virginia. Take a look at this chart of average snow fall in Virginia by cities.
| Collin wanted to know about Acid Rain. We've talked about how weather is affected by the geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere. Here's an example of how the biosphere affects weather. |
